  First Covid lockdown, when all of a sudden, everyone was left with too much time and bandwidth.
  FB movie exchange groups sprung like daisies (WFH: LOL), and very soon, among the “in the scope of my studies, I’d like to see every Jess Franco movies” type requests, the name “Sexy water” came up.
  Interest came from an unsigned note in the last pages of an 80s issue of “Les cahiers du cinéma” that recommended a screening of “Sexy water” at “L’Archipel” every Monday for a month.
  Everyone was looking for it, but, with the exception of PES, who called the director by his first name (“I helped Sami on a couple of scenes”), no-one had seen it.
  Online resources all proved to be helpless.
  SYE took it as a mission to make this cult icon available.
  We managed to track Sami, who was only semi-flattered by our interest, as we rang the bell to his suburb flat too early one morning after what was obviously one of many busy nights for him. Asking for permission to go search for the only existing copy of the Umatic tape in his cave did not helped.
  After four hours digging in boxes of Japanese curios and broken machines in semi-darkness, we had to face it: the search was unsuccessful. The weight of defeat on our shoulders, we climbed the four floors to break the news to Sami. He was amazingly in an even grumpier mood than when we woke him up: “Where have you been all this time? You were stealing from me? I just remembered: I left the Umatic in a box at my ex’s apartment”.
  Next came the challenge to track a Umatic VCR. The Re:voir store had never seen one, but made some contacts, and found that one machine was left in the archives of France 3 Midi-Pyrénées.
  We’ll never forget that day: the sundown over Blagnac, mirroring the stars in our eyes after being the firsts to see this masterpiece in decades.
  The tape has been remastered using the best of modern technology, deals have been signed with Sami’s “lawyer” (aka PES), who promised that all the actors/participants would get paid.
  It’s been produced with high quality 100% renewable eco-friendly materials sourced from CSR labelled companies.
