From the very start of the band, we made it clear to our manager: no merch.
Dude, our music is like the Gods using our instruments to deliver an universal message to the people, or the expression of the kids frustration, you know?
It’d be like allowing thieves in our sonic temple (reference intended).

But the kids saw it differently.
And who are we to disagree? For a start, the kids are always right, and that Andy Bolus collage is so fabulous: how could anyone not want to wear this to do the main street on a Saturday night?

The pressure of this compromise to our ethos was hard to deal with internally, and those rumors of the creation of a Joan Jett Fan Club Fan Club after our last gig did not helped, so we gave up.

Tribute is a tribute album to the poetry and lyrics of our muse Lana Del Rey.
A concept that proved too difficult for our drummer, who opted to read a comic book instead.

The seeds of the Joan Jett Fan Club were sowed a long time ago, at an early 90s Guns n’ Roses Parisian concert (Bercy).
To this day, it is the absolute worst concert I have ever seen. It was so bad that Hard Rock fans were booing between songs (at first, they gave up after five).
In the middle of the concert, the ‘band’ (it was common knowledge that by then, they all hated each other’s guts) had an impromptu unplugged session on a couch, on the stage.
It was like a ‘Friends’ episode, with more hair spray.
Absolutely everything that was bad about the music business was on display for all eyes to see on that stage, that night. Our ears were not spared. They were the wreckers of civilizations.
Hard Rock never recovered. But Rock n’ Roll could be saved.
Romain and I attended that concert and understood that this would be our life mission.
Joseph soon joined, as he’s been working relentlessly for years on a version of his fave song ever, November Rain - his own private ongoing Smile sessions - we do hope it will be included in his forthcoming Stéphanie Seymour tribute CD.
Don’t sneer until you listen to ‘tribute’.
It’s so good, that it saves Rock n’ Roll, and all life on earth, ‘Lord of the Ring’ style - with a skull ring of course.
